Here comes Rossh with his second single! Well yes, the rapper is back and this time exclusively with 9XM as we launch his peppy track, Stuff. SpotboyE.com chats with the talent unlimited...
His first track Chillam went viral and garnered 10
million views.
Now, rapper Rosh has crooned yet another peppy track, Stuff, EXCLUSIVELY launched by 9XM.
In an interview with SpotboyE.com, Rossh talks
about his latest track, his musical journey, indie music and much more.
Excerpts from the conversation:
Tell us about your latest track ‘Stuff’...
This is a hip-hop number through which I am introducing
core Haryanavi. The beats of the song are western but the accent used in the
track is Haryanavi. Many artistes come up with their singles in Haryanavi but
they miss out the real essence of the language.
How long did you take to create this track?
I created the scratch in
two days and kept on adding more and more lines to it. In
all, the song was written and recorded in a week.
Tell us about your musical journey...
I started penning lyrics at an early age. A couple of
years ago, I released my first single, Chillam, which went viral. Post which I
stepped into commercial space and wrote a song for Fazilpuria. At the moment, I
have a few Bollywood songs in the pipeline as lyricist and composer.

Who was your bouncing board when you wrote the song?
I have been the part of this industry for the last 8-10
years and know what work and what doesn’t. I think I know the likes and the
dislikes of listeners. So, I implement the same in my lyrics. After
writing, I show the song to my wife, mom and a few friends.
What do you think about the growth of independent music?
I feel it’s all about content. If you have good content,
people will surely listen to it. An artiste needs to produce something that
pleases the ear. To an extent you do need labels to back you up, but my first
track which was not even aired on TV received a good 10 million views in 1.5
years.
Go on...
But again, if you look at the competition today, if you
have a good label to support you, then the journey becomes easy.

What do you think about the hip-hop culture in India?
Many people today listen to hip-hop music and have even
started producing it. However, there are times that they mix hip-hop with some
other genre of music. But there is awareness and the genre will only grow from
here on. To me hip- hop is like narrating a story.
Who are your favourite hip- hop artistes?
I listen to Drake a lot. I like the way he holds the
audience with his actions on stage.
